Women’s Basketball Pushes Past William Smith to Improve to 9-2

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team once again displayed a defensive effort on Saturday afternoon as the Bombers outscored the visiting William Smith Heron in each quarter in a 76-38 victory. The Bombers held the visitors to just a 27.7% clip from the field as for the second day in a row they once again displayed their depth of the roster with the bench chipping in 20 points.

Ithaca got off to a hot start with Camryn Coffey nailing a 3-pointer that was assisted by Annabella Yorio. Coffey would hit another trey at the 6:17 mark that put the Bombers up 7-4 and they capitalized on a turnover that ended up with a fast break Coffey layup. IC pushed its lead to 13-4 with a pair of June Dickson free throws and were up 19-4 with an Annabella Yorio layup that was assisted by Tori Drevna with 1:21 left. The Bombers ran their offense and Hannah Polce assisted on a Yorio layup to end the quarter as they led 21-4.

The Bombers stretched their lead to 23 points going up 32-9 with a June Dickson layup in the fast break. Brooke Jarvis for William Smith hit a jumper in the paint as time expired with Ithaca carrying a 33-20 lead into the halftime break.

William Smith pushed going into the third quarter as they came back to within 13 points after a Jarvis layup. IC went back up by 20 points with Anya Watkins converting with 4:54 (45-25). Tori Drevna drilled a 3-pointer that was assisted by Avery McPeek that saw the Bombers go up 53-28 with just over two minutes left in the quarter. Tough defense by Ithaca continued as they went into the fourth leading 56-35 as Jillian Payne knocked down a buzzer beating 3-pointer.

Ithaca outscored the Herons 17-6 in the fourth quarter. The Bombers displayed a balanced scoring effort with three finishing in double figures led by Camryn Coffey who had 19 points. Annabella Yorio finished with 14 and eight rebounds while June Dickson totaled 13.

Winners of five-straight, Ithaca will look to keep its momentum on Tuesday when it host RIT for a conference matchup. The Tigers will come to town owning a 5-6 record and are 4-0 within the Liberty League with tip-off slated for 5:30 p.m.
