ALFRED, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team competed at Alfred University on Saturday with the Saxons hosted them for a dual in which the Bombers were victorious by a 174-118 score. The meet served as the final tune up before the Bombers host Union College and SUNY Geneseo next week, which are the final dual meets before the Liberty League Championships.
The Bombers were able to rack up 180 team points on the heels of 12 first-place finishers, including winning the final relay race, which was the 200-yard freestyle over the Saxons. Impressive freestyle times were turned in by
Matthew Mitros as he won the 50-yard event by posting a time of 21.88 and then also teammate
Matthew Janssen who bested the field in the 500-yard race with a time of 5:00.99.
Matthew Stevens won the distance race, the 1,650 recording a time of 17:20.45.
Michael Paulos won a pair of races in the 50-yard butterfly and then the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Ithaca divers will be back in action tomorrow hosting the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational in the Kelsey Bird Natatorium. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. The Bombers will host Geneseo and Union next Saturday for Senior Day.
