Kobusky Ties Beam Record as IC Defeats Ursinus, 190.250-185.350

The Ithaca College gymnastics team hosted its first home meet of the 2024 season as Ursinus College visited Ben Light Gymnasium on January 21. The Bombers posted the highest Division III score in the country this weekend with 190.250 as IC defeated Ursinus by nearly five points (185.350).

Ithaca began the competition on vault and scored 47.175 to take a near one-point lead over Ursinus, who scored 46.200 on bars. In the event, IC posted four scores over 9.400, highlighted by a beautiful performance from Nicole Lonski with a 9.700. Grace Murray was awarded 9.675 and Jillian Freyman nailed a 9.625 routine. Caitlin Pellegrino turned in a 9.400. Lauren Babineaux and Hana Miller also competed in the rotation with 8.775 and 8.750.

In the second rotation, IC moved over to bars and earned 47.025 to extend their lead to 2.3 points over the Bears. Five gymnasts earned over 9.250 in this rotation as Lonski was once again the top routine with 9.575. Babineaux finished her performance with 9.475, while Kaylie Goodwin landed a 9.375 and Marlena Bailey scored 9.350. Coral Cotteleer began the rotation for IC with 9.250 and Skye Cohen was IC's sixth gymnast at 8.450.

On the third rotation, the Bombers took on the beam and turned in another masterful performance with 47.625 to all but seal the dual meet win as IC lead, 141.825 to 137.775. Emily Kobusky was the story of the rotation as tied the school record with 9.850, matching the performance of Cameryn Nichols set in 2023 at Ursinus.

Corey Foster turned in a stellar 9.625, while Goodwin was awarded 9.450. Freyman and Pellegrino each received 9.350 and Miller scored 9.000.

The Bombers concluded the dual meet on floor and posted their best rotation of the day with 48.425 to account for the 190.250 final score. Three gymnasts scored over 9.7 as Foster and Freyman each tallied 9.775 and Abby Chesshire scored 9.700. Murray received 9.600 and Pellegrino earned 9.575. Lonski had 9.050.

IC will return to action next Saturday, January 27 at West Chester University.
