ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY– The Ithaca College women's soccer team put together a dominant effort against Bard College winning the match 4-0. The Bombers acquired their fifth win of the season, improving their record to 5-1-1 and have now put together a two-game winning streak.
The high-powered Ithaca offense was clicking within minutes as
Ava Detorie and
Ally Stanton both had great shots that were stopped by Bard goalie Seymone Rosenberg. In the 11th minute,
Sarah Sinnott and
Kaelyn Fernandez also had incredible opportunities that were stopped by Rosenberg for Bard. The Ithaca surge was too much for Bard to handle as
Ally Stanton was able to capitalize with a goal from
Ava Detorie.
It was all Ithaca in the first half as they forced Seymone Rosenberg to make nine saves. The action continued with
Sarah Sinnott and
Ava Detorie continuing the peppering of this Bard defense placing two low shots right on the cage. However, right before halftime, with Ithaca pushing,
Carrie Davis was able to double Ithaca's lead off a beautiful pass from
Jayne Bogle making it 2-0 Ithaca at the half.
Ithaca's momentum didn't go away at all in the second half as they received a corner kick within the first minute of action. It was only 30 seconds later that Ithaca's
Allison Heft was able to tuck in the third goal of the match assisted by
Ava Detorie giving Ithaca a 3-0 lead.
Just five and half minutes later, Ithaca stretched their lead to 4-0 as
Mia Medearis scored a goal assisted by
Sarah Sinnott in the 52nd minute. Ithaca was able to comfortably glide along for the rest of the match pitching a 4-0 shutout against the Raptors in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
Ally Stanton led the Bombers with eight shots while
Kaelyn Fernandez and Sarah Sinnot had three each. Ithaca finished with 28 shots and a remarkable 20 on goal.
Grace Hickey and
Kate Lawrence were both solid in net making two saves apiece. While Bard lost the match, goalie Seymone Rosenberg put together an extremely solid 15 save performance and did her best to keep her team in the match.
Ithaca's next game will be on Wednesday, September 27 against their archrival and Liberty League foe No. 1 William Smith College in Geneva, N.Y. with a 4 p.m. start time.
