EWING, N.J. – The Ithaca College men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up the second day of competition at the Lions Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey. The Bombers faced off against NYU on Saturday's portion of the invite in a tournament with no team scoring.
On the men's side,
Gijs Fidler was tested at No. 2 singles but came away victorious over his opponent from NYU by scores of 6-3, 4-8 and then 10-1. Sophomore
Siddharth Vaada bested his Violets opponent by a score of 6-4, 6-4. The Bombers saw a big-time victory in doubles play from
Gijs Fidler and
Eric Dubilirer who edged out the twosome from NYU 8-7 (7-4).
The women's team saw a pair of victories both come in doubles action.
Taylor Crain and
Alys Pop teamed well and bested their NYU opponents by an 8-6 score. The other victory came courtesy of a thriller that was produced by first year
Maddie Sutro and
Kayla Shenk who won 8-7.
The Bombers will return to action and will compete in their respective Northeast ITA's. For the women's they will compete on the campus of William Smith beginning on Friday, September 22 and the men's ITA will take place at Drew University on the weekend of Friday, September 29.
