No. 25 Women’s Lacrosse Battles Vassar in Liberty League Semis on Friday

ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 25 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team will host Vassar College in the Liberty League semifinal round on Friday at 4 p.m. at Higgins Stadium in what will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two schools. IC is 7-3 against the Brewers, but lost the last meeting earlier this year, 13-12.

LIBERTY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT: The winner of this contest will move on to play the winner of William Smith and Union on Sunday for the Liberty League title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

If William Smith wins over Union, the winner of Ithaca and Vassar will head to Geneva. If William Smith loses, then the highest remaining seed with host Sunday's championship game.

ABOUT THE BOMBERS: Ithaca is 11-7 on the season ranked No. 25 in the latest IWLCA Top 25 Poll. The Bombers advanced in the tournament with an 11-4 win over Skidmore in the first round on Tuesday.

Caroline Wise scored three goals with three assists in the win and leads IC this season with 175 draw controls. Chloe Nordyke added a hat trick in the victory and ranks second on the team with 44 goals this year. Maizy Veitch is the top goal scorer with 47 after she found the back of the net twice on Tuesday.

Lexi Held is 11-7 in cage with a .506 save percentage and 10.33 goals-against average. Held posted one of her best career performances against Skidmore in the first round as she made 18 saves, which is one shy of her career record that she set against Hamilton a few weeks ago.

SCOUTING VASSAR: The Brewers are 9-6 on the season and are the No. 5 seed in the Liberty League Tournament. Vassar advanced by defeating No. 3 St. Lawrence, 13-11, on Tuesday. Vassar is accustomed to playing in tight games this season as seven games have come down to three or fewer goals. Vassar is 5-2 in those games.

Maddy Kretten is the top scoring threat for the Brewers as she leads the team with 45 goals, while Annie Uyeki has a team-high 31 assists. Emma Torkelson is a versatile player for Vassar with 30 goals, 12 assists, 37 groundballs, 23 caused turnovers and 28 draw controls.

Lauren Johns has started all 15 games in cage and owns a .453 save percentage and 8-6 record.
