PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The Ithaca College women's rowing team sent both their varsity eight (V8+) and second varsity eight (2V8+) to the NCAA Division III Championships, which are happening on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. The Bombers had a successful morning as both the 1V and 2V earned second place finishes in their respective qualifying heats on Friday morning, which advances them both to the Grand Finals.
IC will compete for the National Championship tomorrow morning, beginning with the 2V Grand Final, which will be followed by the 1V Grand Final later in the morning.
The Bombers 2V which consisted of the likes of

Emma Anderson,
Katrina Pohlman,
Anna Capodilupo,
Brenna Hanratty,
Ashley Bailey,
Kai Lincke,
Emma Hammel and
Erika Elcsisin raced in the second heat against Tufts, Bates, and Lewis and Clark. Tufts pulled away from the second place Ithaca crew as they finished with a 7:23.34 time, compared to IC's recorded time of 7:28.48.
Today's first varsity eight lineup included

Allison Arndt,
Laura Trainor,
Taylor Volmrich,
Lily Babcock,
Erin Trojan,
Maggie Farber,
Karley Whalen and
Devi de Oliveira. They were racing in the first heat against the likes of Wellesley, Bates and Lewis and Clark College. The Bombers had an early lead after the first 500 meters (1:42.293), but the crew from Wellesley pulled ahead and ended up winning by a 3.64 second margin. Ithaca's final time was 7:13.720.
All in all it was a great day on the water and by virtues of both their finishes the Bombers will be competing in both Grand Finals. The 2V8 Grand Final is at 10:48 a.m. and the 1V8 Grand Final will begin at 11:36 a.m. on Saturday, May 27.
