Women's Tennis Dominate Hartwick in 9-0 Sweep

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team earned its second consecutive victory with another dominant win over Hartwick College on Wednesday night in Glazer Arena.  The Bombers swept all across the board in a 9–0 win over a Hartwick team that was 13–1 prior to the match. 
 
Taylor Crain and Caroline Herz kicked the night off with a quick 8–1 win over Phoebe Olsen and Ryann Ashby in the No. 2 doubles spot. Kayla Shenk and Sarah Kohberger followed suit, teaming up for another 8–1 win over Lily Vanuga and Maggie Van Valkenburgh in the No. 3 spot. 
 
In the No. 1 spot, Zoe Davis and Rebecca Andrews gave the Bombers a 3–0 advantage heading into the singles slate with an 8–4 win over Jade Killikelly and Damita Bollers. 
 
Crain and Andrews grabbed the first singles matches with big wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively, to clinch the team victory early in the night. Andrews defeated Killikelly in two sets with 6–0 and 6–1 wins. Crain finished in a similar fashion with 6–0 and 6–2 victories. 
 
Davis played in a close match in the No. 3 spot, playing to a third set against Bollers. Davis took the first set 6–3 before Bollers took an exciting second set 7–6. Davis battled in the third set, winning 11–9 for another win. 
 
Shenk cleaned her opponent with a double bagel in the No. 5 spot for the Bombers. Sabrina Cheung and Eliana Chelnick also took home big victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively. Cheung defeated Ashby 6–0 and 6–2, while Chelnick defeated Vanuga 6–2 and 6–1. 
 
The Bombers move to 7–6 on the season after Wednesday night's victory and head into the final stretch of the regular season with its final Liberty League slate. The Bombers host four more matches with William Smith College coming to town next Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match.
