The Generals scored first in the second quarter, as Alex Brown broke the tie, but Stout's goal a minute later would make the game even again. However, the Generals scored two goals within 30 seconds after Stout's goal and would score again a couple minutes later to make it a 6–3 game with 10 minutes left in the half. Niebuhr would be able to get one back a couple minutes later, but Henry Holliday got it back for the Generals. Hillis Burns and
Jake Erickson would trade goals, and with a second before the halftime buzzer,
Kyle Savery scored to make the Bombers deficit two heading into the break, trailing 8–6.
Coming out of halftime, the Generals again got the first goal of the frame, but Erickson quickly got it back, just 24 seconds later. Following that, Washington and Lee got goals from Burns and Pokorny to make it an 11–7 game. The Bombers got a break and went on the man-advantage, and Sramac cashed in a goal with under seven minutes left, but would be penalized and allow a goal to Joey Allen with six minutes left. Unable to trim their deficit early, the Bombers fell into a 17–9 hole with 10 minutes left in the game.
