ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 11 ranked Ithaca College women's basketball team defeated Rochester Institute of Technology, 78–46, in its final regular season contest in Ben Light Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. In a dominant display, the Bombers had 11 different scorers with nine athletes earning multiple assists.
The Bombers came out and dominated the first half, shooting 54.3% from the field, forcing 15 turnovers and out rebounding the Tigers by 16 rebounds.
The Bombers opened the first quarter on a 14–0 scoring run, not giving up a basket through the first seven minutes of the game. The Bombers spread the rock well, finding seven different scorers in that run. The Tigers got on the board with a three-pointer late in the quarter, but
Natalie Smith answered with a three of her own on the next possession. A basket by
Graycen Dubin put the Bombers up 19–3 at the end of the quarter.
The Tigers scored on its first two possessions in the second quarter, but the Bombers quickly turned on the momentum, going on a 16–0 scoring run with Smith hitting her second three of the game. The Bombers never slowed down in the half, finishing with a 43–15 lead at halftime.
Smith opened the second half with a three on the Bombers first possession. The Tigers picked up offensive momentum, but Smith's fourth three and a tough basket by
Annabella Yorio maintained the Bombers big lead. Yorio continued to dominate offensively in the quarter, going for eight points to help get out to a 65–31 lead heading into the fourth.
The Bombers and Tigers traded baskets through the fourth quarter as the Bombers comfortably closed out the win.
Anya Watkins went for eight points in the quarter helping to secure a 78-46 victory. Smith finished with 16 points to lead all scorers, shooting 4–4 from three-point range. Yorio went on to finish with 13 points and
Brady Lynch finished with 10.
The Bombers advance to 19–2 on the season and remain undefeated in the Liberty League with a 14–0 record. The Bombers look to clinch the top seed with an upcoming four-game road stand to finish the season. The Bombers travel to Clarkson University on Friday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
