No. 21 Women’s Track & Field Celebrates Seniors to Open Bomber Invite

The No. 21 Ithaca College women's track & field team celebrated its senior class ahead of the start of the Bomber Invitational on Saturday, in what was the final home meet of the season for IC. The multi events will conclude the Bomber Invitational on Sunday.

Lily Seyfert measured out 11.83 meters (38' 9.75") in the shot put to come in second overall and was sixth in the triple jump at 10.49 meters (34' 5"), while Meghan Matheny, Sara Altonen and Martha Kemp-Neilson went 2-3-4 in the pole vault. Matheny cleared 3.72 meters (12' 2.5") to improve on her best mark of the year, while Altonen and Kemp-Neilson each cleared 3.67 meters (12' 0.5").

Sara Brown was a runner-up in the long jump with a mark of 5.47 meters (17' 11.5"), while Jordyn Dolan secured sixth at 4.94 meters (16' 2.5").

IC's 4x400-meter relay squad of Joy Petersen, Rachel Rose, Jessica Goode and Emily Johnson were runners-up at 4:13.14.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Natalie MacArthur, Milla Gonzalez, Katharine Downey and Tessa Stanley finished third with a time of 1:52.21.

Devan Adegbile was a third place runner in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.24. Rose was a fourth place finisher in the mile with a time of 5:19.38.

Rachel Larson posted a time of 9.92 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to finish in fifth place overall. Larson ran 9.89 in the preliminary round to qualify for the final.

Luca Pecora claimed fourth in the triple jump at 10.17 meters (35'1.75") and posted a time of 27.37 seconds in the 200-meter dash to claim sixth.

Charly Slusser cleared 1.47 meters (4' 9.75") in the high jump to finish fourth, while Kennedey Heichel and Jamie Rossig tied for sixth in the pole vault at 3.22 meters (10' 6.75").

Brown and Gonzalez went sixth and seventh in the 60-meter dash with times of 8.26 and 8.31 seconds. Brown ran 8.21 in the trials, while Gonzalez crossed in 8.25 (8.244).

Soncerae Hamiter took seventh in the weight throw at 13.58 meters (44' 6.75"). The 'B' 4x4 of Giana Haubrich, Carolina Cedraschi, Rayna Wallens and Hannah Martinez took eighth in 4:36.08.

On Sunday, Logan Bruce set a new school record in the pentathlon with a score of 3701. Bruce surpassed the previous mark of 3674, set by Emma Dewart in 2012 at the NCAA Division III Championships, which won the national title. Her performance of 3701 is also the ninth-best in Division III and the current No. 1 total in the country. She won three of the five events on the day, which were the 60-meter hurdles (8.85 seconds), shot put (11.15 meters) and 800-meter run (2:31.23). She finished second in the long jump (5.68 meters) and high jump (1.59 meters). Her leap of 5.68 meters in the long jump is now No. 4 in the nation.

Ithaca will split its squad next week with a meet at RIT on February 10 and the Boston University Valentine Invitational on the 10th and 11th.
