ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming & diving team sit in second after three days of competition at the 2023 Liberty League Championships as the Bombers trail RIT.

In the first event of the evening,
Santiago Ludwig was the top finisher for Ithaca in the 200-yard butterfly with a recorded time of 1:50.56. RIT's Drew Scheib took home first with an association and Liberty League Championship record time of 1:47.93.
The 100-yard backstroke A-final turned out to be one of the most exciting of the evening as within the final 75 yards or so of the race,
James Collishaw turned on the speed as he ended up taking home first-place with a finals time of 50.01. RIT's Jake Sapp finished second at 50.17 and third was
Matthew Johnston who swam to a third-place finish with a time of 50.24. Also earning the Bombers crucial team points were
Max Braithwaite (52.48) who finished sixth and
Liam Murphy (53.30) who was eighth.
Michael Paulos finished fourth in the A-final of the 100-yard breaststroke. Paulos touched the final wall with a time of 56.70, the race winner was Nicholas Stefanandis who finished with a finals time of 55.44.
The team of
Santiago Ludwig,
Ryan Pillion,
Ryan Cooke and
Matthew Johnston were able to defend winning the 800-yard freestyle relay just as they did a season ago, but this time the Bombers finished the race at 6:49.60, which was faster than RIT.
The Liberty League Championships finish up tomorrow with the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 400-yard freestyle relay, 1,650-yard freestyle and men's 3-meter diving. Swimming preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., followed by diving preliminaries at 1 p.m. and finals for both at 6 p.m.
