Women’s Basketball Secures a Non-Conference Win over Rochester

ITHACA, N.Y. – On Wednesday evening the Ithaca College Bombers defeated the Yellowjackets of Rochester in a non-conference matchup by a score of 62-54. Their record is now 6–2 overall, while Rochester drops to 3-4.

It was a slow start for both the Bombers and Yellowjackets, not reaching double digits until 3:05 remained in the first quarter. This one started as a defensive battle as both defenses came to play. With 4:30 to go the score was still 4-4. Camryn Coffey was the first catalyst on offense for the Bombers converting a few layups to put the Bombers up by 4. The Bombers offense began to click and were able to reach a 19-11 lead from a last second three pointer from June Dickson to end the quarter.

At the beginning of the second quarter, Graycen Dubin got things started for the Bombers hitting a big three early on. Hannah Polce joined in on the fun after hitting a few big shots of her own. The Yellowjackets weren't going down without a fight, however, as Kat Jenks made some shots to keep her team in it. The Bombers held an 18-point lead at one point, but the first half came to an end with the score being 33-23 in favor of Ithaca.

Dickson led Ithaca's offense at half with 11 points and Camryn Coffey followed behind with six. On the other side of the court Abby Gress led Rochester's offense with nine while Callie McCulley trailed behind contributing five points.

In the third quarter, the Yellowjackets found their game as Rylee Drahos and Callie McCulley were making plays all over the court. McCulley grabbed some clutch rebounds and Drahos made some impressive shots to cut into the Bombers lead. Camryn Coffey and Anabella Yorio continued their consistent play however to keep the Bombers up 46-37 after three quarters of play.

The fourth quarter was back and forth between both teams but the Bombers were able to finish strong as they came away with the win 62-54. June Dickson and Camryn Coffee led the way for the Bombers with 15 and 14 points respectively while Abby Gress was Rochester's leading scorer with 16 points.

The Bombers will travel to New Paltz on Saturday December 9 at 2 p.m. to take on the New Paltz Hawks in a non-conference matchup.
