TROY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving program competed in the RPI Kumpf Invitational on Saturday afternoon as the Bombers racked up 660 team points to finish first amongst five teams.
It was a record setting performance for
Karalyn Pawcio as she set the Robinson Pool record on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards as she placed first in both events. She bested former IC great Nickie Griesmer for the record with her score of 292.75 and in the 1-meter event she bested everyone on Saturday by putting together a score of 314.15.
The Bombers saw impressive performances in the 200-yard freestyle as it was one-two finish with
Katie Champagne winning the event with a recorded time of 2:00.32 as her teammate
Jane Pfeufer was right behind her at 2:00.76. The same thing would occur in the 50-yard freestyle, but this time it was
Emily VanderSleen scoring a first-place finish with a time of 24.71 as her teammate
Sonia Mlakar was just behind her at 25.41 for second.
Crucial team points were earned by IC with
Caroline Armistead (2:18.33) winning the 200-yard IM and then
Sonia Mlakar winning the 200-yard backstroke with a recorded time of 2:09.04.
