ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team won its fourth straight game to start the season against Hartwick College at Higgins Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 10, winning 3–1.
The Bombers improved to 4–0 and used two goals in two and a half minutes in the second quarter to fuel the offense after falling behind in a game for the first time this season. Junior striker

Juliana Valli each got their first goals of the game, and senior striker
Morgan Mullen scored her second of the year in the third quarter. In the fourth, junior striker Sarah Devito recorded her first goal of the season, and sophomore striker
Natalie Descalso scored her second of the year. Graduate student goalkeeper
Macy Brandwein held it down defensively for the Bombers, stopping two of the three shots on goal she faced. Brandwein's shutout streak starting in the team's first game against SUNY Geneseo ended after a Hawks first quarter goal, totaling 154:13 of game time over four games of not allowing a goal.
The first quarter was low event, with the Hawks controlling most of possession and the chances. They scored eight minutes in, forcing the Bombers to play from behind for the first time this season. The Bombers were unable to respond immediately after, but began to generate more offense as the quarter went on.

Jacqueline Mirabile who passed it to senior midfielder
Nicole Fortunato, who assisted Moses in front of the net. Two and a half minutes later, Descalso beat her defender down the side and found Valli open in front of the net. The Bombers offense was relentless the rest of the quarter, outshooting the Hawks 9–1 in the frame.
After halftime, the South Hill Squad didn't let up, as Mullen scored an unassisted goal five minutes in. the Bombers controlled most of possession for the rest of the quarter, but the game was truly put away after two goals in the fourth quarter. Descalso nearly recreated her assist from the Valli goal but finding an open Devito this time. Then, she found herself on a breakaway and buried the opportunity, putting a bow on a three-point outing for the sophomore. Junior goalkeeper
Alex Clough entered the game in the fourth quarter and was tested with three shots on goal and six corner chances, but she had a perfect outing stopping everything that came her way.
The Bombers outshot the Hawks 21–7, led in shots on goal 10–6 and the Hawks had eight corner chances to Ithaca's seven. The 4–0 Bombers will travel to Cortland to play the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m..
