ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College baseball team fell to the 18
th-ranked SUNY Oswego Lakers by a final score of 11–0 on a cloudy Tuesday afternoon at Freeman Field. The game, which was called in the top of the eighth due to darkness, was originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, but was moved up a day due to weather. The loss drops the Bombers to 22–10 heading into the final regular season Liberty League weekend.

Senior
Buzz Shirley took the mound for IC, but the Lakers got to him early in the first inning, forcing 25 pitches and jumping out to an early 2–0 lead. Looking to respond, freshman
Riley Brawdy and sophomore
Louis Fabbo grounded out, while Shirley hit a fly ball to deep centerfield, but Kyle Lauria made a highlight-reel diving catch to end the inning.

The Lakers hitting barrage kept on in the second inning, as they filled the bases before the Bombers recorded an out. SUNY Oswego got two consecutive sacrifice fly outs to bring in two runners and added a single later in the inning to go up 5–0. In the bottom of the inning, freshman
Connor Pedersen got the Bombers first hit of the game but was caught stealing second to end the frame.

Junior
Zane Grimes relieved Shirley on the mound to start the third after the starter allowed five runs on six hits and two walks on 48 pitches. Grimes slowed the bleeding, recording a strikeout but allowing a run. The Bombers were unable to get anything going offensively, as Thomas Pecchia got through their lineup in just 25 pitches and only allowing one hit first time through.

Entering the fourth inning, the Lakers led 6–0, but were held scoreless for the first time in the game. Fabbo reached first on a single to left field, but the Lakers turned a double play to end the inning in the next at-bat. The game was put out of reach in the top of the fifth inning, with the Lakers putting up five runs. Grimes was pulled after 2.1 innings and allowing three runs off three hits and a walk on 39 pitches. Junior
Erislandy Rives replaced Grimes but allowed four runs while recording the final two outs of the inning.

The game would be called after seven innings due to darkness, as the score remained the same over the last inning and a half, 11–0 in favor of the Lakers. Shirley's record drops to 0–2, as the Bombers will look to bounce back this weekend as they take on Liberty League rival Clarkson University in a doubleheader at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 30, at Freeman Field.
