ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 9 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team had another brilliant performance on Saturday afternoon after defeating Union College 18-7 at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers netted 18 goals from six different scorers and did not yield more than eight goals for the third straight game. The victory pushes IC to 8-1 overall on the season and 4-1 in conference play while Union College falls to 2-4 (1-2).
Ithaca held the big upper hand with 30 shots-on-goal opposed to the Dutchwomen's 15. The defense stepped up as well by registering 11 forced turnovers through regulation.

Maizy Veitch both led the team with five goals apiece. Veitch now leads the squad with a whopping 36 goals on the season.
Caroline Wise entered the afternoon second in the nation in draw controls. That trend continued on Saturday as the sophomore midfielder posted 10 of them in the contest in addition to one goal scored.

Lexi Held got the start between the pipes this afternoon through all four quarters of action and accumulated seven saves.
Ithaca scored fast and furiously, jumping out to an 5-0 lead in the first quarter. Three of those scores came courtesy of Boutureira who sliced a trio of unassisted goals.
Ithaca continued to operate prolifically over the remainder of the half. Veitch led the offensive arsenal with two goals over the span of four minutes to stretch the IC lead to 7-0. Union connected on its first goal of the contest at 6:23 in the second quarter when Anna Smith fired one home to the left of the net.
The Bombers responded swiftly, however, as Boutureira charged down the field and netted a goal 20 seconds later to push the advantage to 8-1. Ahead 8-3 with under two minutes left in the opening half,
Alexa Ritchie rocketed an electric goal right past the Union goalkeeper from 10 yards out.
Ithaca overwhelmingly led in the shots-on-goal department 18-to-6 throughout the half. Four Bombers accounted for four shots-on-goal each throughout 30 minutes of action.
IC continued to have an offensive push throughout the ensuing quarter, as four different Bombers tallied goals to send Ithaca into the fourth with a commanding 13-5 lead.
Ithaca did not take its foot off the gas in the final quarter as the unit put five more goals on the scoreboard behind Ritchie,
Elizabeth Green, Wise, and Veitch.
Ithaca College returns to its backyard at Higgins Stadium next Friday for a date with Liberty League opponent Bard College. Opening draw is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
