No. 9 Women’s Lacrosse Posts Emphatic, 22-11, Win at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 9 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team got back on the winning track with a 22-11 runaway victory at RIT on Saturday afternoon in Liberty League action. Nine different players scored goals as IC improves to 11-2 overall this season and 7-2 in the Liberty League.

The Bombers jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, as IC tallied six more goals in the second quarter and five goals each in the third and fourth periods.

RIT did score the first goal of the contest within the opening minute, but IC knotted the matchup at 1-1 just over two minutes later on a Megan Motkowski goal off a pass from Madison Boutureira to spark a 6-0 run.

Caroline Wise would score 40 seconds later, followed by another Motkowski tally at the 9:15 mark to make the score 3-1. Alexa Ritchie notched IC's fourth goal of the quarter with just over seven minutes remaining and then Sydney Phillips found the back of the net off a feed from Motkowski three minutes later.

Ritchie capped off the first quarter with her second goal off a free position with just a few ticks left on the clock.

In the second quarter, RIT ended IC's run with 12:57 on the clock, but the Bombers would end up taking a 12-4 lead into intermission. During the second period, Liney Dutchyshyn tallied a goal, while Phillips and Ritchie also scored. Boutureira, Maizy Veitch and Maddie Hall also netted goals in the second quarter, while Boutureira, Hall and Veitch earned assists.

Wise and Veitch each netted two goals in the third quarter, while Boutureira accounted for the fifth goal of the period. In the fourth, Lexi Kellish began the five-goal output, followed by Veitch's fourth of the day and another goal from Wise and Phillips to cap off the afternoon. Veitch, Wise and Rachel Rosenberg all recorded assists in the fourth quarter.

Wise finished the afternoon with 12 draw controls, while Rosenberg won nine.

Kayla Howley earned her first start of the year and made four saves in 60 minutes of play.

The Bombers are off until next Friday, April 22 where they will host St. John Fisher College at 4 p.m. for Senior Day.
