GENEVA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's tennis team fell 8-1 to Hobart College on Friday afternoon, dropping the Bombers to a 7-7 record on the season and 1-4 in the Liberty League.
Graduate student Minos Stavrakas and senior Artem Khaybullin accounted for Ithaca's sole win of the afternoon. The pair downed their opponents, the Statesmen's Harry Lyu and Troy Steiner, 8-5 in the second doubles slot.
Sophomores Eric Dubilirer and Deon Kraft played a tough match in the first doubles spot, dropping their match in a tiebreaker 7-8.
Stavrakas played Ithaca's most competitive singles match in the second slot, grabbing the first set early 6-4. The graduate student was unable to maintain the momentum, losing the second set 3-6 and the tiebreaker 4-10.
Up next, IC will travel to Troy, N.Y. to take on No. 27 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on April 23 in another conference match-up. Start time is slated for 2 p.m.
