GREENSBORO, N.C. – Meeting for the first time since the 1987 season, Greensboro College overcame an early deficit in game one winning 9-6 and shutout the Ithaca College softball team, 4-0 to complete the sweep on Sunday. The pair of losses drop IC to 1-3 overall as they will look to return to their winning ways on Monday at William Peace.
Greensboro 9, Ithaca 6 (F)
Yalina Ellis got the Bombers on the board in the top of the first inning driving in a pair of runs as she singled into the right field gap. Ithaca made it 3-0 in the top of the second inning when a
Belle de Oliveira double drove home

The Pride clawed home a run in both the second and fourth frames to make it 3-2 entering the fifth inning. Ellis drove in her third RBI of the game this time doubling in
Julia Loffredo to put IC back up by two runs. However, Greensboro exploded for six runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning to chase starter
Riley Piromalli from the pitching circle.
Ithaca maintained its composure and scored two runs in the top of the sixth making it 8-6 in favor of the Pride, but they added an insurance tally in the bottom half of the inning to put the game out of reach.
Overall, IC outhit Greensboro College by a 10-7 margin but paid for their mistakes in the field.
Greensboro 4, Ithaca 0 (F)
Alexis Sox got the scoring started with a two-RBI double in the third inning and was driven in by the very next batter to give Greensboro the 3-0 lead in the third inning. The Pride capitalized on a fielding error by Ithaca in the fifth to go up 4-0.
The Bombers weren't able to string hits together as they were held to just three in the nightcap.
Cynthia Ehrenfeld and
Daniella Mulvey both doubled in the loss.
