ITHACA, N.Y. – Competing against eight other schools, the Ithaca College men's swimming & diving program co-hosted the first day of the 11
th Annual Bomber Invitational on Friday evening in the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. This year the men are competing against the University of Rochester (399.5), Hamilton College (223), Vassar College (171), Hartwick (152) and Susquehanna as the Bombers lead after the first day totaling 424 team points.
A highlight occurred right away with first year
Ryan Cooke claiming first place in the 500-yard freestyle. He approved upon his time coming into the meet and bested a Rochester swimmer by just under three seconds with a time of 4:40.86.
Matthew Stevens (4:44.97) and
Santiago Ludwig (4:45.08) also put together strong performances finishing third and fourth, respectively.
The Bombers took home first in the 200-yard IM as
Matthew Janssen swam a season-best time besting the competition with his time of 1:56.73.
James Collishaw got in on the action winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.83.
Ben Young finished the 50-yard freestyle in third with a time of 21.17.
In diving action, first year
Kian Long took second place on the 1-meter boards totaling a final score of 477.90. Teammate
Connor Gleasman was just behind him in third as he totaled 445.95. Both surpassed the NCAA Division III qualifying standard in 11 dives of 440. The University of Rochester's David Robinson totaled 497.25 to take home first in the event.
In the first relay of the invite, Ithaca's "A" 200-yard medley relay picked up crucial team points with a second-place finish behind the University of Rochester.

James Collishaw teamed up to put together a time of 1:34.17. The YellowJackets finished first at 1:33.69.
The Bombers are back in action tomorrow with day two of the Bomber Invitational, starting at 10 a.m. with the 200 freestyle relay. The 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay will wrap up the morning session. Diving then begins at 1 p.m. with the 1-meter before breaking for the afternoon.
The evening sessions is slated to begin at 6 p.m. with the 200-yard butterfly, followed by the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke and 800-yard freestyle relay.
