ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Ithaca College women's rowing and sculling teams paired up and traveled to Rochester, New York to compete in the Head of the Genesee Regatta.

Each boat raced a 5k meter course, with each crew starting in 10 second intervals. The Bombers raced a combination of events in both the sculling and sweep categories.

First up, for the scullers, they had an overall dominant performance led by Taylor Volmrich. In the single, Volmrich took first, with the fastest time of 21:47.05. Finishing second was Lauren Hitesman who went 23:40.91. Karley Whalen, Laura Trainor, Kai Lincke, and Melanie Belmont took third through sixth place, respectively.

Next up, IC had many entries in the doubles category. Top performances came from first year Emmeline Robinson and Allison Arndt who took first place with a final time of 20:38.42. The Bombers duo of Devi de Oliveira and Erika Elcsisin finished just behind, claiming second place completing the course in 20:51.99.

For the Bombers sweep events, the team raced two collegiate fours. The crews took 1st and 4th in a field of six boats. The first crew, led by Katrina Pohlman, passed two boats which started before them, early on. The four stroked by Pohlman took first place with a final time of 20:46.39. IC's second four completed the course in 21:54.11, taking fourth.

Overall, it was a statement day for the Bombers as they took home hardware in many categories against rival competition. The teams will travel home where they will train and look towards the Head of the Charles which will take place in Boston, Massachusetts on October 22. Following the Head of the Charles, the sculling team will compete in the Head of the Fish in Saratoga, New York on October 29 and the rowing team will compete in the Touchdown Regatta on the same day.
