BOSTON, Mass..- The Ithaca College women's rowing team traveled to Boston, Massachusetts to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta. The team traveled with only their first varsity lineup, featuring many of IC's scullers from this fall's season.
Ithaca had an automatic entry in the women's collegiate eight category. The regatta provides an automatic bid for crews which place in the top half of each heat from the previous year.
The regatta takes place on the famous Charles River which separates Boston and Cambridge. The river is host to many renowned rowing programs such as Harvard, Boston University, MIT, and more throughout the year. The Head of the Charles or HOCR as it is referred to is considered the largest two-day regatta in the world, with roughly 11,000 athletes rowing in over 1,900 boats in about 61 events. Teams travel from across the world to take part in this headline fall race.
The Charles' crew for IC featured coxswain
Carlie Wohlfahrt and rowers

The Bombers finished 20th overall, with a final time of 17:28.55. Ithaca edged out crews such as Colby, Mount Holyoke, and Smith College. IC finished just one second behind the 19th place finishers from Skidmore.
The Bombers crew remained consistent throughout the course and avoided any additional penalties for steering.
IC will travel home to prepare for the Touchdown Regatta hosted by Cornell on the Cayuga Inlet next weekend, Saturday October 29. With the sweep team staying on the South Hill, the scullers will head to Saratoga Springs, New York to wrap up the season at the Head of the Fish Regatta.
