Women’s Swimming & Diving Shatter Three Pool Records at Alfred University

ALFRED, N.Y. – It was a historic afternoon for the women's swimming and diving program as they traveled to Alfred University and broke three of their pool records along to the dual meet victory. It was a truly impressive showing all-around with Ithaca posting the 247-38 win.

The afternoon began with the first Alfred University pool record being broken, in the 200-yard medley relay Katie Champagne, Abigail Ignagni, Emily VanderSleen and Jane Pfeufer teamed to break the record by posting a 1:54.67. In the 1650 yard freestyle, Morgan Hoffman-Smith outpaced the field and swam to a new Alfred University pool record shattering the Saxon's former mark by swimming to a 18:12.34. The final pool record that was broken on Saturday was in diving action. In the one-meter event, Karalyn Pawcio put together a solid six dives to set the new record with a score of 293.70.

Another outstanding feat in the meet was the Bombers combining for 11 first, second and third place finishes in their respective events.

The Ithaca divers will be back in action tomorrow hosting the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational in the Kelsey Bird Natatorium. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. The Bombers will then host Union College in their final dual on January 29 before the Liberty League Championships.
