Tough Test Lies Ahead for No. 11 Women's Lacrosse in NCAA Round of 16

Lexington, Va. - The 11th-ranked Ithaca College Women's Lacrosse team is gearing up for its toughest test of the season as the Bombers travel to No. 2 Washington & Lee for an NCAA Tournament Round of 16 matchup. Opening draw is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST. The game will be streamed and live stats will be available.

The Bombers are coming off a dominant performance in the opening round against Notre Dame of Maryland University. Ithaca scored the game's first 11 goals in less than 10 minutes of game time. The Gators finally found the back of the net with 18:57 remaining in the first half, but they would not score again as Ithaca held NDMU to a 2-17 performance on clears. Ithaca scored 12 goals the rest of the way to secure a 23-1 win and advance to the Round of 16.

Jacqui Hallack led the way for Ithaca with six goals and two assists. Megan Motkowski was second on the team with four goals and two assists. Alexa Ritchie and Alex Rabb led the Bombers with three caused turnovers each while Maizy Veitch and Rachel Rosenberg each scooped up four ground balls. Mackenzie Schade made one stop on two shots on goal.

Washington & Lee looked just as impressive in their NCAA Tournament opener, defeating Fairleigh Dickinson University - Florham, 19-5. Allie Schwab led the Generals with three goals and four assists. Hanna Bishop and Katherine Faria both recorded six points for Washington & Lee. Bishop netted five goals and had an assist while Faria scored four goals and assisted on two. Six Generals recorded a caused turnover and three picked up two ground balls. Caroline Kranich got the start in goal, making seven saves and allowing five goals. 

The winner will advance to the national quarterfinals on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Washington & Lee. They will play the winner of No. 5 Salisbury and Washington & Jefferson. The winner Sunday's game will advance to the national semifinals.
