ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball program posted 6-0 and 6-2 victories in a Liberty League doubleheader at RIT on Wednesday afternoon. Ithaca is now 17-5 on the season and 13-3 in the Liberty League.
GAME ONE: Ithaca 6, RIT 0
Ithaca team defeated RIT in the first game of a doubleheader, 6-0, where
Beth Fleming nearly recorded no-hitter.

Fleming got off to a great start, striking out two batters in the first inning. She would go on to strikeout a total of four batters and did not allow her first base runner until she issued a walk in the bottom of the fourth inning. Fleming went on to not allow another base runner until there was one-out in the bottom of the seventh inning when she allowed a single for RIT's first hit of the game. Fleming finished up the game allowing one more single and no runs allowed.

The Bombers offense managed to put a runner in scoring position in five out of seven innings and scoring a total of six runs over the game. It started in the top of the first inning when
Gabby Laccona led off with a bunt single. She went on to score on a throwing error later in the inning to take a 1-0 lead.

In the third inning, Laccona doubled to left field to score
Daniella Mulvey for the second run of the game. Laccona would go on to score later in the inning on a dropped fly ball.
Julia Loffredo singled in another run to finish off a three-run inning.

The final two runs of the game were scored in the sixth inning when Laccona tripled in senior
Samantha Troetti and would go on to score on the play due to a throwing error by the shortstop and make it a 6-0 lead. Laccona finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate, two RBI, and three runs scored as the Bombers completed the 6-0 win.
GAME TWO: Ithaca 6, RIT 2
Ithaca established a three-run lead after the top of the second inning as
Kailey Collins drove in the first run of the contest on single to game, bringing in Mulvey. AllisonDell'Orto followed shortly after with a base hit to push home
Riley Piromalli. Dell'Orto later scored on a wild pitch to cap off the inning.
RIT would score a pair of runs in the bottom half of the second off Piromalli, who improved her record to 10-1 on the season. Piromalli tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts and scattered five hits.
Loffredo blasted a two-run home run to leftfield with Laccona on base in the third inning and then Collins drove in the final run of the game on a groundout in the fifth, allowing Mulvey to score.
Ithaca plays St. Lawrence this weekend in a four-game series. IC travels to St. Lawrence on Saturday and returns to Kostrinsky Field on Sunday.
