No. 7 Women's Lacrosse Beats Rochester, Sweeps Regular Season Series

Rochester, N.Y. - The 7th-ranked Ithaca College Women's Lacrosse team defeated the University of Rochester for the second time in as many days, 21-13, to improve to 9-0 (7-0 in Liberty League play). The 9-0 mark matches the best start in program history which was set in 1981.

How it Happened: Ithaca jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals from three different players. Rochester ended the run on a goal with 24:02 to go, but Ithaca responded with another three-goal run. Every time it seemed like Rochester might have an opportunity to pull close in the first half, The Bombers answered right back, eventually building a 15-5 lead at halftime.

Rochester scored the first three goals of the second half to pull within seven, but senior Madison Boutureira stopped the run with 24:09 to go in the game. From there, the teams traded goals for the remainder of the game as Ithaca pulled even closer to a Liberty League regular season championship and home field advantage throughout the Liberty League tournament.

Game Leaders: The Bombers were again led by senior Jacqui Hallack, who scored five goals on the day and notched one assist. Boutureira matched Hallack's six points with four goals and two helpers. Seniors Megan Motkowski and Alexa Ritchie each had four goals, and Motkowski registered one assist as well. First-year Sydney Phillips had the first multi-goal game of her career, finding the net twice.

Senior Molly Nodiff anchored the defense with two caused turnovers and three ground balls. Senior Mackenzie Schade stopped three shots in one half of action and sophomore Kayla Howley made two saves.

Up Next: Ithaca will hit the road to take on Liberty League foe Vassar College on Friday, April 23 for their weekend of the regular season. The Bombers can wrap up home field advantage and a regular season championship with a win.
