CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team picked up a pair of victories versus SUNY Cortland in a double header on Wednesday, 6–3 and 6–2. Ithaca's record improves to 10–2 overall and 6–0 in the Liberty League.

GAME ONE: ITHACA 6, CORTLAND 3
Â
Ithaca made an appearance on the scoreboard early with senior
Gabby Laccona racking up her fourth homerun of the season, a hard-hit ball on the left field side. That would be the only run of the inning on both sides as Cortland did not see any runs cross the plate.
Â
Cortland took the lead in the second after a scoreless second at-bat for the Bombers. Three hits allowed the Red Dragons to score two runs. The third inning ended in a similar fashion, this time with Cortland sending a single runner home and leaving the Bombers to comeback from a two-run deficit.
Â
The Bombers had a productive offensive effort in the fourth with junior
Daniella Mulvey hitting a double to left-center, sparking some momentum. First-year
Hudson Hassler scored Mulvey on a single hit up the middle to put Ithaca within one. Laccona later recorded an RBI, scoring Hassler to tie the contest at 3-3.
Â
No runs were recorded in the fifth inning and Cortland would not score another run for the remainder of play.
Â
An eventful sixth solidified the Bomber victory, and sophomore
Kailey Collins started it off with a homer to left field, her second homerun of the season. Junior
Kira Flegenheimer put herself on base with a walk and later stole home to put her team back on top.
Â
Ithaca sophomore
Allison Dell'Orto saw a similar situation, taking first base on a walk and crossing the plate due to a Cortland throwing error. A walk for junior
Julia Loffredo and a single for senior
Haley White had the two bombers in scoring position, but both runners were left on base heading into the bottom of the inning.
Â
Nothing would come of Cortland's last two at-bats and the Bombers held the lead to finish with a 6–3 win. Ithaca's senior pitcher
Beth Fleming earned her fifth win of the campaign while Cortland senior McKenna Mattison picked up her first loss.
Â
Fleming struck out four in the complete game effort.

GAME 2: ITHACA 6, CORTLAND 2

Â
Dell'Orto made her way on case with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch, Laccona making her way to third on the same play.
Â
A second wild pitch sent Laccona home for Ithaca's first run of the night. Loffredo walked to first and later made her way to home plate after White placed a single down the left field line. The Bombers would lead 2–0 after one at-bat.
Â
Cortland was able to pick up a single run in the bottom of the first and shut down the bomber offense in the top of the second with three quick outs.
Â
Ithaca sophomore
Tava Kasper led off the third inning with a hard-hit single, getting the bats going for her team. A wild pitch sent Kasper sprinting to second and would score thanks to a single from Dell'Orto.
Â
