ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's swimming and diving teams each finished first on Saturday as they topped rival SUNY Cortland. The men's swimming & diving program remained perfect on the 2021-22 season with a 217-82 result over the Red Dragons and the women's swimming and diving team earned the 237-63 victory at the Kelsey Patridge Bird Natatorium.
After an impressive week prior that earned him Liberty League Swimmer of the Week,
Jack Wadsworth set the program record in 200-yard backstroke. He finished the event first over 11-seconds faster than teammate
Matthew Johnston as he paced the field with a time of 1:50.08.

How it Happened
- The Bombers dominated from start to finish, as Ithaca had first-place finishes in every event that they competed in and had several second-place swimmers as they contributed to the outstanding team score that was produced by IC.
- In relay action, Jane Pfeufer, Katie Krom, Morgan Hoffman-Smith and Emily VanderSleen recorded the top-time in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a finals time of 3:43.59 as they were just over 10 seconds faster than the other quartet that finished second for Ithaca.
- The Bombers also captured first-place in the 200-yard medley as Katie Champagne, Abigail Ignagni, Emily VanderSleen and Jane Pfeufer teamed up for a season-best time of 1:53.11
- Another season-best effort was achieved in the 1000-yard freestyle with Morgan Hoffman-Smith contributing to another win on the afternoon besting teammate Emily Shorb as the graduate student touched the final wall in 10:57.01. She also won the 200-yard freestyle with an impressive time of 2:00.93. Her final victory on the day came in the 500-yard freestyle winning the event at 5:20.64.
- It was a one-two finish for the Bombers in the 100-yard backstroke as Katie Champagne took first-place (1:02.20) and just behind her was Katie Krom who recorded a time of 1:02.20. The same thing occurred in the 100-yard breaststroke with Abigail Ignagni taking home first place with a finals time of 1:10.99 and just behind her was Jenna Molnar who finished second in 1:13.11. Ignagni competed in the 50-yard freestyle and showed out with a first-place finish and time of 25.72. She won her third event of the afternoon showing off her versatility in 200-yard breaststroke where she bested Jenna Molnar in the event with her finals time of 2:34.88.
- Kiersten Gravuer won the 200-yard butterfly, touching the final wall in 2:22.29. The Bombers took first, second and third in the 100-meter freestyle with Emily VanderSleen besting all of the competition with a recorded time of 55.77. VanderSleen won the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:00.92.
- In diving action, Karalyn Pawacio nudged out SUNY Cortland's Taylor Williams on the one-meter board by having a finals score of 248.85. On the three-meter board, Ava Lowell edged out Pawacio as she piled up a finals score of 292.49 for the first-place finish.
- Katie Krom beat a competitor from SUNY Cortland with a finals time of 2:15.58 in the 200-yard backstroke.

How it Happened
- The men's team also won both the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay as they saw a one-two finish in the 400-yard event.
- Matthew Stevens won the 1000-yard freestyle by besting Sean Zupko from Cortland as Stevens crossed the finish line in 10:15.64. Stevens also won the 500-yard event by beating teammate Matthew Johnston to the finish line with a recorded time of 4:53.71.
- James Collishaw began his dominant afternoon by winning the 100-yard backstroke with a recorded time of 52.31. Collishaw won the 100-yard freestyle by posting a time of 46.88.
- After Jack Wadsworth broke the program record in 100-yard backstroke last week, his performance today in the 200-yard event broke another record for the Bombers as he won that event in 1:50.08. He collected another win in the 200-yard IM by posting a time of 1:57.20, which was over seven seconds faster than the second-place finisher from Cortland.
- Ethan Mossi earned Ithaca team points by winning the 100-yard breaststroke with a finals time of 1:00.97, besting Mason Arnberg of Cortland who crossed the finish line at 1:01.15.
- Santiago Ludwig won the 200-yard butterfly by over six seconds finishing in 1:59.17. He also won the 100-yard butterfly by posting a time of 52.98.
- The Bombers took home first, second and third place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle as it was a close race with Tim Hector winning (22.24), followed by Ben Young (22.27) and Max Braithwaite (22.32). In the 200-yard breaststroke Joey Pezini took home top honors finishing first with a season-best time of 2:15.72.
- Ethan Godfrey won yet another title on the three-meter diving board posting a score of 240.65, and in the one-meter event Theo Summerville picked up a second-place finish with a score of 191.35.
Both programs will return to action on Friday, Nov. 12 when they host Le Moyne College for a duel in the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
