ITHACA, N.Y. – Emily VanderSleen won three events,
Morgan Hoffman-Smith achieved the feat in two of her respective individual events and the overall depth of the Ithaca College women's swimming & diving program was no match for RIT on Saturday evening as they bested the Tigers, 165-135. The Bombers improved to a perfect 5-0 at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium and are 5-1 as they enter Thanksgiving break.
Emily VanderSleen bested the competition in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best 59.86 time, was equally impressive in the highly competitive 50-yard freestyle finishing first with a recorded time of 24.70 and raced to a photo finish in the 100-yard freestyle besting Kimberly Dobie by touching the final wall at 54.15. She was also part of the second place finishing 200-yard medley relay team that was just over a second slower that the foursome that competed for RIT.
Hoffman-Smith continued her strong season by producing an outstanding time in the 1000-yard freestyle besting her teammate
Erin Kiley by over 23 seconds, posting a time of 10:45.15. The graduate student also swam to a season-best time of 5:16.82 that won her the 500-yard freestyle. She also was a key contributor in the final event of the evening, which was another close race in favor of IC in the 400-yard freestyle as the team won the event with a finals time of 3:41.47.
