IC Swimming & Diving Show Out Against Le Moyne on Friday

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's swimming & diving programs welcomed Le Moyne College to the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium on Friday evening in a dual competition against the Dolphins. The men's program defeated the Le Moyne 231-67 as the Bombers improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season, while the women's team improved to 4-1 with the 210-88 victory over the Bombers.

How it Happened
  • The Bombers took home a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley with Katie Champagne, Abigail Ignagni, Emily VanderSleen and Jane Pfeufer teaming up to finish with a time of 1:36.91, which was just under three seconds faster than the foursome from Le Moyne College.
  • VanderSleen beat all competitors in the 100-yard butterfly with her time of 1:00.30. Another win was picked up by Katie Champagne in the 200-yard IM as she finished in 2:17.65, which was right in front of Jenna Molnar who touched the wall at 2:17.81.
  • In the 1000-yard freestyle, Emily Shorb won the event with a season-best time of 11:01.38 and finishing right behind her in second-place was teammate Erin Kiley who produced a recorded time of 11:03.98.
  • In the sixth event of the evening the Bombers were first, second and third with Katie Champagne edging out the field with a time of 2:00.92. Josephine Holman finished second (2:01.64) and first year Ava Palfreyman finished third with a finals time of 2:03.71.
  • Abigail Ignagni paced the field in the 100-yard breaststroke touching the final wall in 1:10.30. IC picked up another victory this time in the 200-yard butterfly with Kiersten Gravuer winning by over four seconds (2:20.21) over Roni Nelson of Le Moyne.
  • In a highly competitive 50-yard freestyle, Caitlyn Longway (24.56) won the event for the Dolphins and touching the final wall behind her was Emily VanderSleen in 24.95, while finishing third was Abigail Ignagni.
  • Ignagani picked up another victory, this time coming in the 200-yard breaststroke. The rising first year just touched the final wall in front of Jenna Molnar with a time of 2:32.38 as Molnar finished with a recorded time of 2:32.79.
  • Emily Shorb produced her season-best time of 5:25.53 in the 500-yard freestyle, which was good for a first-place finish.
  • On the one-meter diving board the Bombers finished one, two and three with Ava Lowell putting together a finals score of 278.70. Second-place went to Kari Pawcio (267.80) and finishing in third with a solid score of 241.95 was Rachel Lange. Ava Lowell was just as good on the three-meter board taking home first in the event with a combined score of 274.65.
  • The final event of the evening was the 400-yard freestyle with IC's Jane Pfeufer, Josephine Holman, Ava Palfreyman and Katie Krom teaming up to win the event in 3:44.41.

How it Happened
  • The Bombers dominated the 200-yard medley relay "B" team of Spencer Brownewell, Joe Pezzini, Jack Wadsworth and James Collishaw pacing the field for the win at 1:36.91. IC concluded the meet in the 400-yard free style relay as Wadsworth, Matt Johnston, Luca Olivieri and Dylan Haraden won a photo finish with a time of 3:18.92.
  • Matthew Stevens had an outstanding meet beginning with a win in the 1000-yard freestyle where he posted a time of 10:08.67, which was over 22 seconds faster than the next swimmer from Le Moyne. He also won the 500-yard freestyle in impressive fashion with a time of 4:54.04.
  • James Collishaw won the 200-yard freestyle with a finals time of 1:44.33. He also took home first-place in the 50-yard free style with a finals time of 21.42. He continued his personal dominance in the 100-yard event winning and touching the final wall at 47.20.
  • In the 100-yard backstroke, the Bombers saw first, second, and third-place finishes with Tim Hector edging out his teammates with a time of 54.89. Spencer Brownewell (55.70) and Max Braithwaite (56.65) finished second and third, respectively.
  • Ethan Mossi just edged out Joe Pezzini in the 100-yard breaststroke with Mossi winning the event in 1:02.45 and right behind him was Pezzini who touched the final wall at 1:02.47.
  • The 200-yard butterfly was won by Santiago Ludwig (1:59.26) and 200-yard backstroke saw IC also win the event via Spencer Brownewell who put up a time of 2:01.22.
  • On the three-meter diving board, Ethan Godfrey won the event with a finals score of 297.85 and Theo Summerville was second with a season-best score of 227.85. Godfrey also won the one-meter event with a finals score of 276.90.
  • Jack Wadsworth produced a season-best time of 2:12.13 to win the 200-yard breaststroke and he won his second individual event of the day in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.06.
The Bombers will return to action on Saturday, November 20 as they will host RIT at 5 p.m. in the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium.
