Men's Swimming & Diving

2021-22 Swimming and Diving Season Begins Saturday

ITHACA, N.Y. – After over a year and a half away from in-person competition, the Ithaca College men's and women's swimming and diving teams are looking forward to the 2021-22 season. The women's team are excited to defend its Liberty League title this season after winning the past two conference championships during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. The Bombers competed in a virtual meet against Skidmore College and Vassar, as well as hosted Le Moyne College and RIT in exhibition competitions during the spring of 2021 in a condensed schedule because of COVID-19.

Head coach Kevin Markwardt will provide his watchful eyes for the 41st season at Ithaca and his second at the helm of the women's program. The diving team will be led by Chris Griffin who won the CSCAA Diving Coach of the Year in 2018 and is in the midst of his seventh season with the Bombers.

IC will begin its season on Saturday, October 16 in the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium when the program hosts both SUNY Brockport and Buffalo State. The Bombers will conclude October with an away dual meet at RPI (Oct. 30) before returning home to host SUNY Cortland (Nov. 6), Le Moyne College (Nov. 12) and RIT on Saturday, November 20.

The Bombers will have a week break before returning to competition in their final action of the fall semester at the Bomber Invitational, which will be a three-day event (Dec. 3-5). Ithaca will return to the pool and the diving board at the Henry Kumpf Invitational on Saturday, January 15. The programs will then use the Alfred University Dual Meet (Jan. 22), Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational (Jan. 23), Union College Duals (Jan. 29) and the Genaca Diving Invitational (Feb. 5) as the final tune-ups before the Liberty League Championships. The conference meet that will once again be hosted by the Bombers and will take place from February 16-19. Both programs will aspire to compete in the NCAA Regional competitions.
