CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team dropped its first Liberty League contest of the season, falling to St. Lawrence, 63-47, on Friday evening. The Bombers are now 8-4 overall with a 5-1 mark in conference play

Although Ithaca built up as much as an eight-point lead in the first quarter, St. Lawrence came out strong in the second quarter, pulling ahead and keeping the lead for much of remaining time.

IC went on an 8-0 run in the first quarter to take a 10-2 lead with 5:40 remaining on the clock. Junior
Grace Cannon netted four of the Bombers' eight points during that stretch.

After back-and-forth action, the Bombers took another eight-point lead with 3:46 left in the first quarter, following a
Cassidy O'Malley jumper. The Saints closed the gap to four points before
KellyAnne O'Reilly hit a shot from behind the arc with just over two minutes to play, pushing IC's advantage to 17-10.

The Bombers continued to maintain a lead in the opening minutes of the second quarter. St. Lawrence's Katie Frederick hit a layup just 16 seconds in to cut the deficit to three points. IC answered right back, however, with a 3-pointer from
Megan Yawman and a layup from O'Malley, bumping the Bombers' lead to 22-14.

Starting with an Olivia Middleton layup at the 8:38 mark, the Saints went on an 8-0 run to tie things up at 22. Ithaca regained the lead quickly, bringing back up to as many as four before the teams went on to exchange buckets.

With 1:44 remaining, Frederick hit a layup to give the Saints one-point lead, and a layup from Olivia Barringer with less than one minute on the clock pushed the St. Lawrence advantage to 33-30 at the half.

The Saints came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, putting in the first points to take a five-point lead.

After a basket from O'Reilly at 7:16, St. Lawrence's Ava McCann drained back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Saints up by eight, 44-36. St. Lawrence extended that lead in the final 2:16, as Frederick hit a jumper and Middleton netted a 3-pointer, building a 51-39 advantage.

O'Malley finished out the quarter with four straight points, closing the gap back down to single digits, 51-43, at the buzzer.

With 6:36 remaining in regulation, an Erin Kumler jumper gave the Saints another double-digit lead, which they would not let up for the rest of the game.

Ithaca's final points, a jumper from Yawman, were at the 2:53 mark, and St. Lawrence scored five straight to end the game with a 16-point, 63-47 upset.

O'Malley led Ithaca with 16 points, 14 rebounds, five steals, two blocks and two assists. It marks her fourth double-double of the season. Cannon also finished in double-figures with 12 points as well as five rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Both Yawman and
Cara Volpe rounded out the day with a team-high four assists.

Three players reached double figures for St. Lawrence, led by Frederick with 19 points and 17 rebounds. McCann went 3-for-7 from 3-point range to finish with 11 points while Middleton scored 10 points, grabbed six boards and dished out five assists.

The Bombers are back in action tomorrow with a 12 p.m. contest at Clarkson.
