ALFRED, N.Y. – Sophomore
Theo Scott netted the game-winning goal 5:20 into overtime to propel the No. 12 Ithaca College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Alfred University on Wednesday evening.

After 95:20 of scoreless play, Scott scored his team-leading fourth goal of the year on a pass from
Jack Monnes to secure to the win for IC. The Bombers are now 7-1-1 on the season as they head into Liberty League play this weekend.

The Bombers were not without chances to score throughout regulation, as they registered a total of 18 shots prior to overtime. IC finished with 20 total shots while Alfred had eight on the day.

It was the Saxons who put the first shot on-frame, as Saif Alseyofi sent in a shot at the 3:01 mark, which was saved by goalkeeper
Max Lichtenstein.

Following a corner kick in the 16
th minute, sophomore
Colin Shust got a head on the ball, but it hit the post. Sophomore
Thomas Pierce followed that up with another shot, but it was blocked by an Alfred defender.

Ithaca tested Alfred's goalkeeper, Ben Middlemiss, for the first time in the 23
rd minute, as
Justinian Michaels' attempt was saved. Pierce got off a shot on-goal in the 26
th minute, which Middlemiss also stopped.

The Bombers continued to press offensively through the remainder of the first half.

A shot from first-year
Aidan Keenan was saved on the line by defender Evan Merkey in the 34
th minute and a Michaels' header less than one minute later was stopped by Middlemiss in goal.

It was Alfred that had the first attempt to pull ahead in the second half. A header from Raquan Hinds was blocked by an Ithaca defender, resulting in a corner kick. The Saxons were unable to capitalize on the corner kick, as a foul was committed and it went the other way.

In the 62
nd minute, Merkey sent a shot in, which was saved by Michaels' on the line to keep Alfred off the board.

Senior
Kevin Turi had a chance in the 85
th minute, but Middlemiss came up with the save. The following minute, Scott sent a ball to goal, which sailed high.

In the closing minutes of regulation, Ithaca continued to press for the go-ahead goal.

Middlemiss stopped a shot from Scott in the 89
th minute and a
Jonathan Kyriakidis ball was blocked with just 52 seconds remaining. Sophomore
Kyle Sicke also had a shot attempt with 26 seconds left, which went wide.

Both teams registered shots in the opening minutes of overtime before IC scored the game-winner.

Shust put a header towards goal in the 92
nd minute, which was wide. Alfred followed that up with back-to-back shots in the 95
th minute from Carrillo Macia and Hinds. Macia's ball was blocked while Hinds' was high.

Just over one minute later, Scott scored the game-winner, ending the game and giving the Bombers their sixth shutout of the season.

Ithaca is back in action on Saturday for the first of three-straight home Liberty League contests. The Bombers open up conference play against Bard at 2 p.m. before hosting Hobart on Wednesday, Oct. 2 and St. Lawrence on Saturday, Oct. 5.
