Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 15/21 Men's Soccer Downs Oswego, 2-0

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 15/21 Ithaca College men's soccer team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over Oswego on Tuesday afternoon. Ithaca put away a goal in each half to move past the Lakers in the non-conference matchup.

The Bombers got on the board just 14:35 in as Zack Lichtman got a foot on a Thomas Pierce cross to tap it in past Oswego goalkeeper Brian Terra.

Ithaca then doubled its lead in the 73rd minute of play as Duncan Schnur fired a shot past Terra for his first goal of the season and his second career goal.

The Bombers were the first to put a shot on goal, as Jack Monnes sent a shot in at the 8:07 mark, which was saved by Terra.

Senior goalkeeper Max Lichtenstein, who finished the day with six saves, made back-to-back clutch saves at the 8:59 and 9:01 marks on shots from Omar Espinoza and Steven Rojas to keep the Lakers off the board.

Following Lichtman's goal, Ithaca kept up the offensive pressure while Oswego was always looking to get the equalizer.

A header from Max Barish was saved in the 17th minute by Terra, while Lichtenstein made a play in the 23rd minute on a Ryan Young ball.

First-year Aidan Keenan tested Terra again in the 28th minute, which was saved. Lichtenstein then stopped a shot on-frame from Oswego's Slater Bushen.

The Bombers recorded the final shot on-goal of the first half, as Theo Scott's attempt was saved by Terra.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Michael Gualtiera sent a shot in to Lichtenstein, who once again came up with the play.

Following the Bombers' second goal of the day from Schnur, play was back and forth, with just one shot on-goal from either team. Santiago Soto put a shot on-frame in the 85th minute, which Lichtenstein made the play on for his sixth and final save of the game.

Lichtenstein now has five shutouts on the season, which leads the Liberty League. His .420 goals-against average is also tops in the conference.

The Bombers now look ahead to Saturday when they host No. 6/10 Cortland at 1 p.m. on Carp Wood Field. Cortland is coming off a 1-0 loss to Hobart today.
