ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team kept the positive vibes flowing in Liberty League action on Sunday afternoon when the Bombers took on Bard at the Stevenson Tennis Complex in Annandale, N.Y. The Bombers scored their third consecutive win in Liberty League play with an emphatic 9-0 sweep of the Raptors. The victory improves IC's record to 3-2 in league play.

Sunday marked Ithaca's most comprehensive win of the season. The Bombers conceded just five total games across the nine matchups in a truly dominant display. It marked the first time Ithaca had earned a 9-0 sweep since besting this same Bard outfit on its home courts at the Wheeler Tennis Complex on April 21, 2018.

The tone for Sunday's match was set right from the outset, as Ithaca went a perfect 3-0 in doubles for the second time over the past three Liberty League matches. The Bombers replicated the effort put in during IC's first Liberty League win over Vassar last weekend, rolling to three convincing wins to take a commanding advantage.

Ithaca's third tandem got the day started, as junior Sam Fried paired with rookie Artem Khaybullin who was making his first appearance in the lineup this spring. The duo played excellently off each other, sweeping past Bard's Isaac Rosenthal and Charvez Johnson in an 8-0 whitewash. IC bumped up senior Sam McGrath and junior Liam Spiegel from their usual position at three to play at second-doubles on Sunday. The duo posted a commanding 8-1 win over Nake O'Connor and Zayd Normand to up the Bombers' lead to 2-0. The closest battle of the doubles session came in the first position, as juniors Minos Stavrakas and Colten Lavery had to grind out a couple close games during the pro-set. Ultimately, IC's grouping proved much too strong down the stretch, winning 8-3 to cap the dominant doubles session.

The singles session was never close, as the Raptors were only to win just a single game over the entirety of the six matches. Earning sweeps were Stavrakas (first), McGrath (second), Gardiner (third), Prestwich (fourth) and Fried (sixth). Senior Garrett Boleslav also turned in a dominant performance, conceding just the one game in second set of his 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Isaac Rosenthal.

It was head coach Bill Austin's 201st career victory at the helm of the men's program, while the women's win earlier in the day brought his career total to 415 across both programs.

Ithaca will be back in action next Saturday, April 13, when it travels to Union for another Liberty League match that figures to have postseason implications. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
