ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team sits in second place after the third day of competition at the 2019 Liberty League Swimming and Diving Championship with 986 points.

First-year
Spencer Brownewell had the best performance of the night for Ithaca, claiming victory in the 100 backstroke with a time of 51.12. It is the first Liberty League title of his career on South Hill.

Fellow first-year
Tim Hector also reached the 100 back final, notching an eighth-place finish with a time of 53.76.

In the opening race of the night, the 200 fly, senior
Jake Hewitt came from behind to take second place with a time of 1:52.58.
Nate Bartalo took sixth for IC with a time of 1:55.43, while Pat Daly finished in seventh in 1:56.03 and first-year
Matt Crysler swam to a time of 1:57.18 for eighth.

Junior
Andrew Mikhailichenko picked up a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, swimming to a time of 57.53. He was edged by RPI's Jonathen Yang who won the field in 57.17.

Ithaca completed the night with a fifth-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay. The team of Brownewell, Mikhailichenko,
Daniel Meyers and Hewitt swam to a time of 7:03.47, narrowly missing fourth place by just .26.

The Bombers' team of
John Mosier,
Augie Carlozzi,
Nick Bonnabeau and
Michael Sheehan finished second among B relays with a time of 7:12.41.

Ithaca concludes the Liberty League Championship tomorrow with the fourth and final day. Swimming preliminaries start at 10 a.m., diving at 1 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Prior to finals, there will be an All-Academic Team and senior parade at 5:45. Following the final event of the evening, the Liberty League will award swimmers and divers of the meet as well as honor the top three teams overall.
