ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of the 2019 Liberty League Championships in third place with 249 points.

The Bombers sit behind RPI in first with 409 points and RIT in second with 272.

Sophomore
Stanley Zaneski had a stellar day in the pool for Ithaca, successfully defending his 50 freestyle title with a win in 20.57. This came on the heels of his record-breaking preliminary round in which he broke the meet record with a time of 20.55, while tying the current IC men's program record and hitting the NCAA B-cut.
Senior
Jake Hewitt started off the day for IC with a fourth-place finish in the 500 freestyle, swimming to a time of 4:34.80.

Also in the 500 freestyle, first-year
Michael Sheehan won the B final, finishing ninth overall with a time of 4:47.71. Three other IC swimmers reached the B final, as Pat Daly took third (4:51.99), Nick Bonnebeau finished fourth (4:52.07) and
Dylan Haraden finished fifth (4:54.64) for 11
th, 12
th and 14
th overall, respectively.

Senior
Kellen Scanlan finished first in the B final of the 50 freestyle, for ninth overall, with a time of 21.84.

Ithaca rounded out the day with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Spencer Brownewell,
Andrew Mikhailichenko,
Nate Bartalo and Zaneski raced to a time of 1:33.12. RPI finished first with a time of 1:32.92 while RIT came in second in 1:33.05.

Ithaca is back in action tomorrow for the second day of the Liberty League Championship. Swimming preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., followed by men's 1-meter diving preliminaries at 1 p.m. and swimming finals at 6 p.m.
