ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT scored just 50 seconds into the second overtime period on Wednesday night to move past the Ithaca College men's soccer team, 2-1.

The Bombers are now 11-4-2 overall with a 4-3-1 mark in the Liberty League. RIT improves to 6-8-1 on the season and 4-4 in conference play.

It was Jared Short who played the hero for the Tigers, netting a header off a Simon Garno free kick in overtime. It was Short's sixth goal of the season.

After 45 minutes of scoreless play in the first half, RIT struck first, scoring in the 62
nd minute. Garno chipped a pass from Nathan Nuwer past goalkeeper
Max Lichtenstein to put the Tigers up, 1-0.

As the clock ticked down, the Bombers continued to pressure, looking for the equalizer, which finally came with 5:19 left in regulation. After a skirmish in the box, senior
Kevin Turi put one away for IC, tying the game up at one goal apiece with his third goal of the season.

Things were a battle from the first whistle, with much of the game being played in the midfield.

The Tigers registered the first shot of the game in the eighth minute, but Lucas Randrianarivel's attempt was blocked by an Ithaca defender. Lichtenstein recorded his first save of the game on a Randrianarivel shot in the 34
th minute, which was the first shot-on-goal of the game for either team.

With just under four minutes remaining in the first half, the Bombers were whistled for a foul in the box, resulting in a Tigers' penalty kick. Lichtenstein, however, stopped the shot from Mark-Vincent Sansone to keep RIT off the board.

With 1:42 remaining in the half, Ithaca put its first shot-on-goal, as
Alex Leahy's shot was saved by goalkeeper Spencer Raymond-Smit.

The second half proved to be similar to the first, with a lot of action taking place in the midfield. Prior to RIT's first goal, there was just one shot registered on either side.
Duncan Schnur's ball in the 58
th minute, however, was high.

In the 73
rd and 74
th minutes, the Bombers made an offensive push, starting with a shot from sophomore
Theo Scott, which was saved by Raymond-Smith.
Jack Monnes followed that with a shot which was blocked by an RIT defender and a
Jonathan Kyriakidis attempt sailed wide of the goal.

In overtime, RIT's Adam Wuest ripped the lone shot of the first 10 minutes, which was saved by Lichtenstein in the 96
th minute.

Ithaca is back in action on Saturday as the Bombers host RPI at 2 p.m. in the regular-season finale. IC will then learn its fate for the upcoming Liberty League Tournament which begins on Tuesday, November 5.
