ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team picked up a Liberty League road victory at RIT, 78-61, inside Clark Gymnasium on Tuesday evening, Jan. 8 to improve to 7-5 overall on the season and 3-2 in league play. For the ninth time this season, Ithaca made more than 10 3-pointers, including the fourth time in as many games.
Junior
Sebastian Alderete tied his career-high with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting (3-of-4 from 3-point range) to go along with six rebounds, while classmate
Riley Thompson added 19 points. Senior
Peter Ezema added 10 points and eight rebounds, while fellow senior
Matt Flood chipped in eight points, three boards and three assists.

Matt Flood to tie the game at 2-2 with 17:02 left in the first half.
The Bombers tied the game up once again at 6-6 on a jumper in the paint by Alderete just over two minutes later. Over the next two-plus minutes, Thompson scored eight straight points on a pair of 3-pointers and a layup, and then Alderete followed up with a bucket to give IC a 22-17 advantage.
By the 7:11 mark, Macklin and Karl connected on back-to-back threes to give the Bombers a nine-point lead at 28-19. Another three for the Bombers, this time by Alderete, and a three-point from Thompson extended IC's edge to 34-19 and forced RIT to call a timeout with 4:53 to go.
Ithaca's lead grew to 43-26, the largest lead of half, with 1:21 left on a layup from senior
Matt Flood, and the Bombers would head into halftime with a 43-31 advantage.
IC shot 50.0-percent in the first half 18-for-36 and six made 3-pointers. The Bombers also assisted on 10 made baskets and held an 11-3 edge in turnovers. Thompson scored 15 points (6-of-10), while Alderete had 11 (5-of-7). Sinon dished out three assists.
In the second half, RIT pulled to within single digits at 50-41 with 16:06 remaining in the contest, but the Bombers answered with a 9-0 run over the next 3:15 to push the difference back out to 18 points. During that run, four different Bombers scored, which was capped off by a Karl 3-pointer with 12:51 on the clock.
With 9:44 left in the game, Alderete converted a three-point play to give Ithaca its first 20-point lead, 66-46, of the contest. Five minutes later, IC established its largest disparity of the game at 24 points, 76-52, on a 3-pointer from Alderete to put the game away.
Ithaca finished the game shooting 32-of-69 (46.4%) overall and 10-of-30 from beyond the arc (30.0%). Defensively, IC held RIT to 33.3% shooting (21-of-63) and 18.8% (6-of-32) from 3-point range and forced 17 turnovers.
The Bombers are back at home inside Ben Light Gymnasium this weekend, Jan. 11-12, against St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
