SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team posted a near wire-to-wire Liberty League road victory at Union College on Friday evening, Jan. 4, as the Bombers cruised to an 89-74 win to improve to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in league play. Four different players reached double figures in the triumph.
Junior
Riley Thompson and sophomore
Bryan Karl each recorded 21 points for IC, while freshman
Skylar Sinon dropped 15 points and senior
Peter Ezema registered his 30th career double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Thompson went 9-for-19 overall with eight rebounds, while Karl was 7-for-13 and 6-for-12 from 3-point range in 21 minutes off the bench. Sinon connected on 6-of-10 from the floor and Ezema hit six shots on 18 attempts.

Sebastian Alderete also contributed nine points, while senior
Matt Flood added seven rebounds, four assists and two points. Freshman
Zach Warech dished out five assists for IC.
IC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 2:13 of play, but Union would go on top, 5-4, by the 16:44 mark, which happened to be the Dutchmen's lone advantage of the contest. A jumper from Thompson 1:21 later put the Bombers in front for the remainder of the matchup.
By the 8:26 point of the first half, Ithaca established its first double-digit edge of the outing at 25-14 on a Karl 3-pointer, and just over six minutes later, the Bombers would mount a 21-point cushion at 47-26 with 2:08 to go in the opening half.
Ithaca went into intermission with a comfortable, 50-32, lead. Thompson netted 14 points over the opening 20 minutes, while Karl connected on five 3-pointers and a free throw for 16 points. Ithaca shot 50-percent in the first half from the floor.
The Bombers continued to control Friday's affair in the second half and never allowed Union to pull closer than 15 points (the final score of 89-74) for the rest of the game. IC led by as many as 23 points in the second half.
Overall, IC was 35-for-78 from the field (44.9%) and 10-for-34 (29.4%) from 3-point range. The Bombers were also a near perfect 9-of-10 at the line and assisted on 20 made shots. Ithaca committed just six turnovers, while Union had 18 on the night.
Ithaca heads to Hobart College tomorrow afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest in Geneva.
