ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team defeated Elmira, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Bombers improve to 3-0-1 on the season while Elmira falls to 1-3-0.
"We are very pleased with that performance today on the road," said Head Coach

Tom Dillmann took a free kick from the edge of the box, sending it into the lower left corner of the net to score.
The goal was the first shot of the game on either side and is Dillmann's first career goal at IC.
"It was important that our mentality was right from the first whistle and it doesn't get much better than scoring in the first minute," said Dezotell. "I thought we closed the game out comfortably and with confidence."
Ithaca continued the offensive pressure, looking to add to its lead.
Kyle Sicke sent a header to goal in the 11
th minute, but it was blocked by an Elmira defender. Two minutes later, Jon Kyriakidis' attempt was too high.
Goalkeeper

th minute, back-to-back shots form
Justinian Michaels and Dillmann were blocked and went wide, respectively.
It would be the Bombers with the first shot attempt in the second half, as
Nate Schoen sent a shot to goal, where Garufi made the save.
Sophomore
Ben Quatresols had another attempt for IC with a header in the 56
th minute, which went wide.
Elmira took its first shot of the second half in the 61
st minute. Cameron Sanderson took the attempt, but Lichtenstein made his second save of the day on the ball.
A Dillmann shot went high in the 62
nd second minute and a Quatresols header sailed wide to round out the Bombers' offensive attempts in the second half.
The Soaring Eagles' best chance to tie the game was in the 84
th minute of play. Taira drilled a shot to goal which hit the cross bar, giving Lichtenstein the chance to clear it and preserve IC's lead.
Statistically, the Bombers outshot Elmira 10-4 while also recording nine corner kicks to the Soaring Eagles' three.
In goal, both Lichtenstein and Garufi made two saves on the day.
Ithaca is back in action on Tuesday when the Bombers travel to Hamilton College for a 5 p.m. match up. IC will then be home on Carp Wood Field on Saturday, September 15 for a match-up with Brockport, as part of a double-header with the women's team.
