ITHACA, N.Y. – The 18
th-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated at Higgins Stadium, defeating the visiting Union College Dutchmen on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers honored the graduating members of its 2018 Senior Class prior to action and earned the end result worthy of the pomp and circumstance of the day. Despite a slow start, the Bombers took control of the game in the second half, outscoring Union 7-2, to pull away for the 13-8 victory. The win improves Ithaca's record to 4-1 in Liberty League conference play and 10-1 overall.

The Bombers had six different players score on the day.
Ryan Ozsvath and
Connor Brumfield both had impressive performances on the day scoring four goals apiece. Ozsvath added three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Brumfield also added an assist and two ground balls.

Senior
Jake Cotton capped off his senior day with four points on two goals and two assists. Cotton also added two ground balls. Classmate
Kaelan Fitzpatrick added two points with a goal and assist, while collecting three ground balls.

Brendan King and
Will Witter round out the scoring for the Bombers, both with a goal apiece. King also collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers while Witter added a ground ball.

Connor Crosson earned three points on three assists for the day. Crosson also added two ground balls.
Robby Atwood earned the win for the Bombers with six saves on the day.

The Dutchmen wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring their first goal just 1:02 into the game off of a backdoor feed from Jordan Cooper to
Hayden Frey narrowly passing Atwood. Over the course of six minutes, Union's Charlie McGovern would go on to score Union's next two goals to give the Dutchmen an early 3-0 lead with 7:27 left remaining in the first quarter.

A minute later senior
Jake Cotton ripped a shot top-shelf short side into the back of the net to give Ithaca its first goal of the afternoon. A Union turnover would then give the Bombers another score with
Ryan Ozsvath capitalizing on an assist from
Connor Brumfield to cut the deficit to 3-2 with 3:09 remaining.

Union went on to score just before the end of the quarter as an excellent feed from behind the net snuck past Atwood at the right post, putting the Dutchmen up 4-2 at the end of the first.

Union started the second quarter off with an early man-up goal off a rocket into the top left corner from Keaton McCann, putting the visitors back up by three goals less than a minute in.

The Bombers dominated the following four minutes of play, racking up four goals to take its first lead of the day with the score 6-5 with 8:55 remaining in the half.

Senior
Kaelan Fitzpatrick started the scoring surge at 12:40, rifling a shot that found its way through Union keeper Sam Bebout. A minute later
Jake Cotton then hit
Brendan King on the right post as he fired a low shot in. Ozsvath then scored a goal to tie the score at 5-5 with 10:02 left.

Fitzpatrick scored the assist on the play, delivering a skip pass from center point to Ozsvath on the far left wing, ripping the shot just inside the right post.
Connor Brumfield would cap the scoring run off with a bounce-shot off an assist from Cotton, giving the Bombers its 6-5 lead.

Union would go on to tie the score on their second man-up goal of the game with 6:16 remaining to leave the score at 6-6 going into the half.

The Bombers took absolute control in the second half outscoring the Dutchmen 7-2 for the rest of the game. Ithaca held Union scoreless in the third quarter, scoring the only two goals of the frame.

IC's first goal came in transition off of an excellent caused turnover by
Winston Wenham. Moving quickly on the change of possession
Brendan King found
Will Witter wide open on the left wing and fired a laser into the bottom right corner of the goal, giving Ithaca a 7-6 advantage with 12:07 remaining.

Another Brumfield goal with 0:33 remaining would push the score to 8-6 leading into the final 15 minutes of action.

Ithaca began to pull away from the Dutchmen ringing up three unanswered goals within the first half of the quarter. Ozsvath converted his third goal of the day off a feed from
Conner Crosson from the left wing, making the score 9-6. Crosson would assist on the next score as well setting up another goal for
Jake Cotton on the right wing.

Brumfield would join the hat trick club pushing the score to 11-6 with an unassisted goal with 7:45 left in game. Union ended their second half scoring drought shortly after on another goal from Jordan Cooper.Â

However, back-to-back scores from Ozsvath and Brumfield would open up the margin to 13-7, putting the game out of reach with 4:00 remaining. Union would earn a late goal to cap the score off at 13-8.

Ithaca returns to action this Wednesday, April 11, when it welcomes top-ranked RIT for a huge matchup at Higgins Stadium. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
