CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team swept St. Lawrence on Friday afternoon in Liberty League play.

The Bombers jumped out to a lead early in the first game en route to a 5-1 lead and topped the Saints in game two, 10-5.

With the wins, IC improves to 13-7 on the season with a 4-2 mark in the Liberty League. St. Lawrence falls to 8-10 with a 0-2 conference record.

In the first game of Friday's doubleheader, the Bombers put up a run immediately, in the top of the first.

Vanessa Brown got things going for IC with a double to right field and was driven in by
Abby Shields, who doubled to left center.
Â
After not allowing a hit in the bottom half of the first inning, Ithaca came out to score again in the second.

Alex Wright drew a walk to lead off the inning before moving to third on a
Frankie-Ann McCauley sacrifice bunt. Wright then scored on an
Ellie Murray sacrifice fly out to center field, pushing IC's edge to 2-0.

It wasn't until the bottom of the third inning that St. Lawrence got a hit and pushed a run across. Deanna Sullivan started it off for the Saints with a single down the left field line. Elle Gray followed that up with a single to center, which allowed Sullivan to reach third base.

Sullivan eventually scored for St. Lawrence's lone run of the game on a Skylar Hein single to left field.

Ithaca followed up the Saints' run with two more runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Abby Shields drew a walk to lead off before
Hannah Anderson laid down a bunt. During Wright's at-bat, Anderson stole second and Shields stole third, putting both runners in scoring position.

Wright lined out to the Saints' shortstop, but a throwing error allowed both Shields and Anderson score to give IC a 4-1 lead.

The Bombers put their final run on the board in the top of the seventh inning.
Gabby Laccona reached base on an error and was able to advance to second base. She was then driven in by Brown, who sent a single to center field.

Brown went 2-for-3 in game one with a double, RBI and run scored. Wright finished 1-for-2 with a run scored and a double.

Haley Congdon earned the win on the mound after pitching a complete game with five strike outs.

The Bombers got on the board first in game two of the doubleheader.

Laccona started things off with a walk before being driven in by Brown with a double to left center.
Â
St. Lawrence quickly tied things up in the bottom half of the inning. Sullivan drew a walk to lead off before Gray laid down a bunt to advance Sullivan. Both runners advanced on a Hein ground-out before Taylor Armijo walked to load the bases. Angelina Carney followed that up with another walk which brought in Sullivan to tie things up.

The Saints took their first lead of the series in the bottom of the second inning.

McKailey Lyndaker started the rally with a single to right field before Sullivan placed a single in left. Both runners advanced on a Gray ground-out before scoring on an error following a Hein hit.

In the top of the third inning, the Bombers cut St. Lawrence's lead to just one run. Laccona hit a two-out single to left field before scoring on a Brown double down the left field line.

Ithaca then tied things up, 3-3, during the next at-bat in the fourth inning. Anderson led off with a homer over the left field fence, her third of the season.

The Bombers came up with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning, starting with an
Annie Cooney double to left centerfield. Colleran followed that up with a bunt to put runners on the corners.

Cooney scored the go-ahead run on a Laccona before Colleran scored on a Shields' single, giving the Bombers a 5-3 lead with just one out.

Ithaca continued to produce offensively, scoring another run in the top of the sixth inning.
Â
Rebecca DiSerio drew a two-out walk to put herself on base and Cooney drilled a triple to right center to bring in the run and give IC a 6-3 advantage over the Saints.

The seventh inning proved to be the biggest for the Bombers yet, as they scored four more runs.
Â
Laccona led off the inning with a walk before stealing second to put herself in scoring position. Anderson then drew a walk before both runners were able to advance on a wild pitch.

With two outs, Wright sent a shot up the middle to drive in both Laccona and Anderson, pushing IC's edge to 8-3. Wright then scored on a throwing error on a Murray shot to short.

DiSerio drew the third walk of the inning, moving Murray into scoring position. Cooney then drove in the final Bombers' run of the game with a single to left, to give IC a 10-3 edge.

The Saints, however, were not done yet and were able to rally for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Â
Hein started the rally with a single down the left field line before Armijo sent a single up the middle. A Carney single to right center brought in both Carolyn Holran, who was pinch running for Hein, and Armijo.

Cooney went 3-for-4 in game two against Saints with a double, triple, two RBI and a run scored. Wright finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run while Brown went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

As a team, IC scored 10 runs on 11 hits with just a single error.

Beth Fleming earned the win in the circle, striking out six in five innings of work.

The Bombers are back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader, at home, against Clarkson. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
