USTFCCCA TEAM AWARDS | USTFCCCAÂ INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its all-academic awards on February 9 and both Ithaca College programs, along with eight individuals were honored for their work in the classroom.
For a team to be considered for this distinction, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Johns Hopkins and North Central (Ill.) were the highest finishing teams for their respective genders, hence their winning of the award.
Overall, there were 388 teams honored by the USTFCCCA today. Of those teams, 221 of them were women's programs and 167 of them were men's.
Ithaca's men's team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.48, while the women earned a team GPA of 3.78, which was the fourth-highest in the country.
Individually, two members of the men's team – sophomores
Jeff Montgomery and
Forest Stewart – and six women – graduate student
Kristin Lynn, seniors
Taryn Cordani,
Sierra Grazia and
Denise Ibarra, and juniors
Emilie Mertz and
Amanda St. Clair – were recognized.
In order to qualify for this honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet.
There were 668 student-athletes named USTFCCCA All-Academic with women accounting for 55 percent of that total number (368).
