RESULTS
CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team defeated Cortland, 193-107, on Saturday afternoon.
IC sophomore
Morgan Hoffman-Smith led the team with three individual wins on the day while graduate diver
Anna Belson won both the one and three meter boards.
In the first meet of the day, the 400 medley relay, the Bombers' team of
Jaclyn Pecze,
Ashley Warren,
Jesse Ford and
Genny Tripler finished second with a time of 4:12.22. Following close behind in third was
Rachel Smertz,
Karolina Baranowski,
Emilee Murray and
Caroline Bissaillon, which raced to a time of 4:20.25.
Hoffman-Smith won her first race of the day in the 1,000 freestyle, dominating the field by more than 30 seconds. She raced to a time of 10:59.25 to claim the win.
Maura Beuttel came in second behind Hoffman-Smith with a time of 11:38.69 while
Tori Eastham finished third in 11:52.44.
Hoffman-Smith followed that up with another win the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:58.95. Ford placed third with a time of 2:05.03 while Smertz came in fourth in 2:06.03.
Pecze claimed a victory of her own in the 100 backstroke, winning in 1:05.21.
Maggie Flynn followed that up with a second-place finish with a time of 1:06.29.
Parbst was the top IC finisher in the 100 breaststroke, coming in second in 1:11.70. Warren was close behind with a third-place finish in 1:12.89.
IC took second, third and fourth in the 200 butterfly, led by
Olivia Schlackman in second after swimming to a time of 2:21.79.
Kaitlyn Scott finished third with a time of 2:23.62 while
Casey Koenig came in fourth in 2:26.49.
In the 50 freestyle, Tripler was the top finisher for the Bombers, coming in second in 26.16 while Bissaillon finished third after swimming to a time of 26.25.
Anna Belson won her first board of the day, the three-meter, with a score of 280.65, more than 35 points more than the rest of the field.
Jocelyn Pawcio finished in second behind Belson with a score of 242.55 while
Samantha Lanzafame took fourth with 215.95 points.
Tripler was again the top finisher for IC in the 100 freestyle, coming in second in 56.52. Domena was close behind in third with a time of 58.07.
The Bombers claimed another victory in the 200 backstroke, as Smertz raced to a time of 2:20.75 to earn the top spot. Eastham finished in second place with a time of 2:23.21 while Beuttel rounded out the top five with a time of 2:25.63.
Ithaca finished one and two in the 200 breaststroke, behind a first-place finish from Parbst. She won the field with a time of 2:34.79 while Warren took second in 2:36.73.
Hoffman-Smith concluded the individual portion of her stellar day with another win, this time in the 500 freestyle. She swam to a time of 5:17.69 to claim the victory, while Schlackman finished in second with a time of 5:36.99 and Ford came in third in 5:37.24.
In the 100 butterfly, Pecze was the top IC finisher, racing to a time of 1:00.35, while Murray came in third in 1:02.74.
Belson picked up her second win of the day in the one-meter dive, finishing with 269.50 points. Pawcio also finished in second place with a score of 239.70 while Lanzafame came in third with 210.85 points.
Domena closed out the individual races, earning a win for the Bombers in the 200 IM after swimming to a time of 2:21.21. Ford finished in third with a time of 2:22.35 while
Gabrielle Humphrey came in fourth with a time of 2:25.80.
IC's team of Bissaillon, Hoffman-Smith, Pecze and Tripler won the 200 freestyle relay to end the day, racing to a time of 1:41.68. The Bombers also claimed third, as the team of Murray,
Josie Berman, Smertz and Baranowski finished in 1:45.96.
The Bombers are back in action on Friday when they host Le Moyne at 6 p.m. in the A&E Aquatics Pavilion.
