ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team fell to Hobart, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Carp Wood Field.

The Statesmen scored two second-half goals to push past the Bombers. Ithaca falls to 4-5-1 on the season with a 0-3 conference mark while Hobart improves to 4-2-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the Liberty League.

Offensively, the Bombers controlled the field in the first half, registering four shots and four corners, compared to Hobart's one shot and no corners. Despite Ithaca's chances, the teams went into the half with no score.

Just two minutes and eight seconds into the second half, the Statesmen got on the board with a goal from Patrick Schulz off an assist from Nick Wigglesworth. The goal was Schulz's first of the year.

The second goal of the day for Hobart was scored by Ben Orr – his second of the season – in the 82
nd minute of play.

The Bombers started out strong, registering two shots and three corners in the first 10 minutes of play.
Eric Hepler's shot in the fourth minute of play was just high while a
Max Barish shot in the ninth minute was saved by Hobart's Morgan Sawyer, who finished with six saves on the day.

Another Hepler shot sailed high in the 17
th minute and a Nate Schoen shot in the 27
th minute was saved by Sawyer before the Statemens recorded their lone shot of the first half. In the 37
th minute, a Derrick Acheampong shot was blocked by an Ithaca defender and sent the other way.

In the second half, a Zack Lichtman shot was saved by Sawyer in the 59
th minute which would be the only shot the Bombers got off in the second half until the final six minutes of play.

At the end of the half, Sawyer made three saves in a row – on a
Tom Dillmann shot in the 85
th minute, on a
Nate Mansfield header also in the 85
th minute and a Schoen shot in the 89
th minute – to preserve the win for the Statesmen.

Ithaca is back in action on Saturday, October 7 when they host Bard at 12 p.m. After that, the Bombers will hit the road for two games in a row.
