ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team started the season strong, claiming a three-way victory over Fredonia, SUNY Brockport and Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon.

In the first event of the day, the 200 yard medley relay, the Bombers took three of the four top spots.

The team of Morgan Hoffman-Smith,
Ashley Warren, Jackie Pecze and Genny Tripler took first after racing to a time of 1:53.36, clipping the second place team by more than three seconds.
Â
SUNY Brockport took second in the race with a time of 1:56.42.
Â
Ithaca then took the top two spots in the 1000 yard freestyle.
Â
Nilza Costa finished in first place, racing to a time of 11:27.21. Katie Conte came in second in the 1000 with a time of 11:38.48.

In the 200 yard freestyle, the Bombers took four of the top five spots, with Hoffman-Smith leading the way. She took first with a time of 2:01.63. Pecze took second with a time of 2:03.12

Ithaca's top finisher in the 50 yard backstroke was Landers, who finished third with a time of 29.62. Brockport had the top finisher – Dee Logory – with a final time of 29.15.

Gabriele Humphrey finished with the top time in the 50 yard breaststroke, racing to a final time of 34.17.
Angelina Domena came in behind her with a second-place time of 34.58.

The Bombers swept the top three spots in the 100 yard butterfly, with
Kaitlyn Scott finishing first with a time of 1:04.08. Jepsen came in right behind here with a time of 1:04.10 to take second and
Zoe Vadney finished third after racing to a time of 1:04.63.

The Bombers' top finisher in the 50 yard freestyle was Pecze, who took second with a time of 25:92. Bissaillon tied for third place with Brockport's Jenna Gleason, with a time of 26.17.

Tripler won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.89, coming in ahead of Brockport's Martha Ruether, who finished in 56.68.

Hoffman-Smith took first in the 100 yard backstroke, racing to a time of 1:02.51, edging out Brockport's Logory, who finished with a time of 1:02.91. Landers, Alexandra Estanislau and
Emma Whitney took third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.

The Bombers took the top three spots in the 100 yard breaststroke.

Warren took first with a time of 1:11.69 while Humphrey finished in second with a time of 1:14.74 and Domena took third with a time of 1:15.42.

Nilza finished first in the 500 yard freestyle, swimming to a time of 5:34.09. Conte came in second with a time of 5:37.95.

Pecze swam to a time of 27.36 in the 50 yard butterfly to take first place in the event. Estanislau,
Josie Berman and Jepsen took third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Hoffman-Smith continued her successful day in the 100 yard IM, taking first with a time of 1:05.18. Jepsen came in second after swimming to a time of 1:06.96.

Ithaca took first in the final women's event of the day, the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of Landers, Domena, Bissaillon and Tripler swam to a final time of 1:42.54, finishing more than 1.5 seconds ahead of second-place Brockport.

In diving action,
Nickie Griesemer took second in the 1 meter dive, with a score of 237.45.
Lindsey Suddaby finished in third with a final score of 211.20.

Griesemer won the 3 meter dive with a score of 278.55. She was more than 30 points ahead of Brockport's Meghann Kilgallon, who took second.

The Bombers are back in action on Saturday, October 28 when they head to RPI. Action is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
