SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's swimming and diving team returned to the pool on Saturday afternoon when it took on Liberty League foe Union College in a dual meet at the Alumni Gym Pool in Schenectady, N.Y. The victory was the fourth consecutive triumph for the Ithaca men, who moved to 10-3 in dual meets on the season.

The Bombers depth proved to be the difference in today's contest. Despite posting first-place finishers in just 7-of-16 events, IC was able to secure just enough points in narrowly besting the Dutchmen by a final score of 151-140.

Bookending the day's action were the relay events, in which Ithaca excelled in taking 26 of 34 total points. The Bombers posted first-place and third-place finishes in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay, securing the overall meet win when Aaron Levin, Connor Schroyer, Nathan Bartalo, and Adam Zelehowsky blazed to a time of 1:27.59 in winning first in the 200 free relay.

Zelehowsky posted a pair of individual first-place finishes to secure 18 more points for Ithaca. He paced the field by nearly four seconds in winning the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.93. He also wrapped back to win the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.98.

Jake Hewitt completed the butterfly sweep for the Bombers in the 200-yard event, besting Union's Seif Refaat by .63 to win the race in a time of 1:59.49. He also added a runner-up time of 5:02.57 in the 500-yard freestyle event.

Levin completed the freestyle spring sweep for IC with victories in both the 50-yard and 100-yard events. He topped the field with a time of 21.87 in the 50, while he paced the field by 1.72 seconds in a first-place time of 48.06 in the 100-yard race.

Bartalo had a solid day in adding a pair of second-place finishes and one third-place swim in his individual racing lineup. He began his day with a third-place swim of 22.64 in the 50-free. He also finished runner-up to Levin in the 100-free with a time of 49.78 and posted a 53.43 in the 100-butterfly to place second behind Zelehowsky.

In the backstrokes, Gergory Markert finished runner-up in both the 100-yard and 200-yard events. He posted a 55.66 to finish just shy of a half-second off the pace in the 100, while he marked a time of 2:01.92 in the 200.

Rookie Andrew Mikhailichenko also marked a pair of second-place finishes in the breaststroke events. He went 1:00.18 in the 100, while he swam the 200 in a time of 2:08.43. Matt Quinney posted third-place in both events with times of 1:01.80 and 2:18.69, respectively. The freshman also marked a runner-up performance in the 200-yard individual medley race with a time of 2:01.26.

The Ithaca men return to action on Saturday, February 11, when it returns to the Ithaca College Athletics & Events Center for the 2017 Ithaca Invitational. Action is slated to get underway at 1:00 p.m.
