Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Nash Lifts No. 23 Ithaca to a 1-0 Overtime Win Over Farmingdale

ITHACA, N.Y. – Megan Nash scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime period as the nationally-ranked Ithaca College women's soccer team outlasted Farmingdale State, 1-0, on Sunday at Ithaca's Carp Wood Field.

The win moved the Bombers, who are ranked 23rd in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, to 4-0-0 while the Rams remained winless at 0-3-2.

Nash's tally came in the 106th minute after the senior collected a rebound and buried it in the back of the net for her second goal of the season.  Holly Niemiec was credited with an assist on the play after her attempt was saved by Farmingdale's keeper before finding the foot of Nash.

The contest was a back-and-forth affair from the get-go with both teams showing their physicality.  Ithaca would take eight shots in the first half but as the second half got underway, neither team was willing to give an inch.  Over the final 45 minutes of regulation, both teams combined for just six shots before giving way to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Ithaca set the tone early in the second.  The Bombers blasted five shots in all including four on goal before Nash sealed the win.

Stacey DiGiorgio picked up her fourth win in goal for the Bombers and her second consecutive shutout after making five saves in all.

Niemiec led all players with five shots while Jocelyn Ravesi took four on the afternoon.  Taylor Baranowsky and Jess Demczar each had two shots in the win.  As a team, Ithaca nine corner kicks.

Ithaca will look for its fifth win of the season at 11 a.m. on Saturday when it hosts Cortland at Carp Wood Field in the opening round of the Upstate Collegiate Cup.  Nationally-ranked William Smith will take on the University of Rochester in the tournament's other game.
